CDSCO Registration & Import Licensing

Import registration and licensing for drugs and cosmetics entering India — for foreign manufacturers who need a compliant route in, and Indian importers who need the paperwork to survive scrutiny.

Where this usually starts

  • You are a foreign brand or manufacturer and India is on your expansion map.
  • You are an Indian importer or distributor and your principal expects you to handle registration.
  • A SUGAM application is pending with queries you are not sure how to close.

What we handle

Drug import registration

Registration certificate for the overseas manufacturing site and products, plus the import licence your Indian entity needs to bring stock in.

Questions founders ask us

Do imported cosmetics really need registration before sale?

Yes. Imported cosmetics must hold an import registration certificate before they enter the Indian market — marketplaces and customs both check. Selling first and registering later is how consignments get stuck at port.

We have no Indian entity. Can we still register?

Yes — a foreign manufacturer applies through an authorised Indian agent or importer who holds the registration locally. Choosing that structure carefully matters, because it affects who controls the registration later.

How long does CDSCO registration take?

Typically a few months from a complete dossier. Most delays are self-inflicted: missing legalised documents, inconsistent labels or slow query responses — all preventable with preparation.
